Males 21.2-23.4mm snout-vent

Asanka's shrub frog is endemic to Sri Lanka and named after Asanka Goonewardena. Males measure 21.2 to 23.4 mm from snout to vent. The back and legs are ash-brown, and the toes, parts of the legs and the belly are yellow, with small yellow spots on the legs. The front toes have fringed skin and the hind toes are webbed. It lives on shrubs where a break in the canopy admits enough sun (Wikipedia, general species account).

Like other Pseudophilautus it develops directly, hatching as froglets with no tadpole stage. It was long thought to be two species with P. hoffmani, but they were synonymised in 2021. Nationally Critically Endangered (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
