The dusky leaf-nosed bat, called the bicolored leaf-nosed bat on Sri Lanka's national list, is a very small leaf-nosed bat with large round eyes, soft long fur and a simple, square nose-leaf. Its colour runs from grey-brown to grey, sometimes tinged orange. It ranges from India and Sri Lanka to the Philippines, New Guinea and northern Australia (Wikipedia, general species account).

It is nocturnal, flies slowly but manoeuvres well, and eats small flying insects. It roosts in caves, mines and sometimes tree holes, preferring dark, warm, moist places. In northern Australia mating is in April, with young born from October to December, which was not checked for Sri Lanka. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
