Kivulegedara's day gecko is a diurnal gecko endemic to Sri Lanka, named for Kivulegedara Mohottala, a figure in the 1817 to 1818 Uva-Wellassa rebellion. It was found at 500 to 750 m in the Keerthibandarapura area, restricted to rock outcrops and granite caves in forested areas, and is closely related to the Bandarawela round-eyed gecko. An adult male measures 28.5 mm. It is orange-brown above with five faded irregular brown bands on the trunk and seven or eight cream vertebral blotches, and the tail has 9 to 11 faded W-shaped bands (Wikipedia, general species account).
It shares its range with the Asian house gecko and the Kandian half-toed gecko. The describing researchers considered it threatened because of low numbers, recorded at four locations. No national Red List category was found.
