Asian Glossy Starling

The Asian glossy starling is a starling found in Bangladesh, Brunei, northeastern India (Assam), Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia and Thailand, and introduced to Taiwan. It is 20 cm long and weighs 50 to 60 g. Adults of both sexes have glossy black plumage and a bright red iris, and juveniles are blackish-brown above and heavily streaked below (Wikipedia, general species account).

The subspecies vary in the extent of the gloss and in bill size. The source gives no Sri Lankan range, so its place on the Sri Lankan list should be checked. The 2012 National Red List gives no status under this name.
