West Asia across South Asia into Southeast Asia

The Asian tit, or cinereous tit, is a tit found from parts of West Asia across South Asia into Southeast Asia. Its several populations were earlier treated as subspecies of the great tit. It is grey-backed with white underparts, whereas the great tit in the new sense has a greenish back and yellowish underside. Twenty subspecies are recognised, and mahrattarum is listed for southwest India and Sri Lanka (Wikipedia, general species account).

The Japanese tit was formerly a separate species but is now grouped with it. The 2012 National Red List gives no status under this name.
