Polypedates maculatus
Size
7-8cm body length
The Chunam tree frog, or Indian tree frog, was described by John Edward Gray in 1830 and is common across South Asia. It measures about 7 to 8 cm and is brownish, yellowish, greyish or whitish above with darker spots or markings, rarely with an hourglass figure behind the head. The hind thighs have round yellow spots on a dark network, and males have internal vocal sacs (Wikipedia, general species account).
It has been split from the Himalayan tree frog, once treated as a subspecies, and from Polypedates leucomystax, a very similar species once included in it. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
