Minervarya agricola, the common Indian cricket frog, is widespread on the Indian subcontinent, in India, Sri Lanka and Nepal. It was earlier identified as M. granosa or Zakerana syhadrensis because of its large distribution, and was treated as a separate species in 2019. It occupies a wide range of habitats, from flooded fields and human settlement in the plains to wet forest in the hills (Wikipedia, general species account).

The 2012 National Red List has a Sri Lankan entry for the common paddy field frog, listed as Fejervarya cf. limnocharis, Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012), which is probably this species but under a name that has since been revised.
