The elegant shrub frog is endemic to Sri Lanka and has been recorded at two sites, one at about 60 m and one at about 1,060 m. Males measure 18.3 to 20.6 mm and females 19.0 to 23.9 mm. The back is grey-brown with dark brown bands, yellow-green on the shoulders and red-brown in the middle, with two black stripes, light blue on parts of the hind legs and a yellow belly with small black spots (Wikipedia, general species account).
A female lays 6 to 155 eggs per clutch, mixed into the soil, which is thought to break the clutch into single eggs and may improve aeration. The young develop inside the egg and hatch as small frogs. The name decoris is Greek for elegant. Nationally Critically Endangered (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
