The golden-fronted leafbird is found from the Indian subcontinent and south-western China to south-east Asia and Sumatra, and is a common resident breeder in India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka among others. The adult is green-bodied with a black face and throat bordered with yellow, a yellowish-orange forehead and a blue moustache line, lacking the blue flight feathers of the blue-winged leafbird. Young birds have a plain green head (Wikipedia, general species account).
It builds its nest in a tree, laying two or three eggs, and eats insects and berries. The southern Indian race has a narrower yellow border to the black face, and insularis, found in the extreme south of India and Sri Lanka, is slightly smaller. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
