Breeds in China and Mongolia and on the Tibetan Plateau; winters in southern Asia, mainly peninsular India
The Mongolian short-toed lark, or Sykes's short-toed lark, breeds in China and Mongolia and on the Tibetan Plateau and winters mainly in peninsular India. It is darker than the greater short-toed lark and has a shorter bill. It was long treated as a subspecies of the greater short-toed lark, but DNA analyses showed it is closer to Hume's short-toed lark, and the IOC split it in 2016, though not all authorities have accepted the split (Wikipedia, general species account).
The 2012 National Red List gives no status under this name.
