The streak-throated woodpecker is a woodpecker of the Indian subcontinent that lives in drier woodland from the lowlands to the foothills. It is medium-sized and green, with a streaked throat and scaly whitish underparts, a yellowish rump, white eyebrows and a white-and-black moustache. The male has a red crown and the female a blackish one. The tail is dark and plain and the bill smallish and dark (Wikipedia, general species account).
It can be told from the streak-breasted woodpecker by its darker eyes, less dense underpart streaking and broader moustache. Nationally Endangered (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
