The black-winged stilt is a very long-legged wader in the avocet and stilt family, widespread in Europe, Asia and Africa. Its taxonomy is contested: the name is sometimes used for one almost worldwide species and sometimes restricted to the Old World form, with the black-necked, white-backed and pied stilts treated as separate species, so most sources accept between one and four species (Wikipedia, general species account).

Only taxonomy was readable for this entry, so no description or behaviour is given. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
