Dayawansa's shrub frog is endemic to Sri Lanka and known only from its type locality on Sripada Peak in the Peak Wilderness, at 1,679 m. It is one of eight species described from Adam's Peak in 2013. Males measure 24.5 to 26.2 mm from snout to vent and the female about 30.1 mm. It is easily identified by yellow patches on the eyes, snout and body sides, black rings on the forehead, and a light brown triangle on the brownish back (Wikipedia, general species account).
It has been seen perched in shrubs up to 2 m up, and develops directly, hatching as a froglet with no tadpole stage. It is named after Dr Nihal Dayawansa of the University of Colombo. The 2012 National Red List gives no status under this name.
