The grey-breasted prinia, or Franklin's prinia, is a wren-warbler that breeds in the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka and southeast Asia, in scrub, forest clearings and other open but well-vegetated habitats. Like other prinias it often holds its tail upright, but is easily told by a smoky grey band across the breast that contrasts with a white throat. The beak is all black and the legs are pink (Wikipedia, general species account).

The tail is graduated with grey feathers tipped white. Breeding birds are grey above, while non-breeding birds are pale above with rufous wings and a weak eyebrow. It can be confused with the rufescent prinia. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
