The Sri Lanka green-pigeon, also called the Pompadour green pigeon or Ceylon green pigeon, is a forest pigeon found in Sri Lanka, where the Sinhala name bata goya is used for it and several other green pigeons. Many authorities split it from the wider Pompadour green pigeon complex, and it has no subspecies (Wikipedia, species account).
It usually occurs singly or in small groups and flies fast and directly, with the regular wingbeats and occasional sharp flick typical of pigeons. It eats the seeds and fruits of a wide variety of plants, and builds a stick nest in a tree in which it lays two white eggs. Nationally Least Concern (Sri Lanka National Red List 2012).
